The Register of Deeds office is responsible for the maintaining and securing of the land records of the county. It is a separate office in counties that have more than 20,000 in population. It is the duty of the Register of Deeds to record documents submitted for filing, in the order in which they are presented, such as deeds, deeds of trust, assignments, releases, construction liens, federal and state tax liens, UCC filings, plats and other instruments presented for recording.
All documents recorded in the Register of Deeds office are public record. Therefore, copies of any recorded documents are available to view. Primary users of this office include realtors, title and abstract companies, banks, law firms, appraisers and genealogists.

The Dawson County Register of Deeds office is not a title search company and will not conduct searches of the records. The Dawson County Register of Deeds office has scanned all the Indexes, Deed and Miscellaneous records into our imaging system. These images are available online via Deeds Online. The Dawson County Register of Deeds office will happily pull any document(s) that you request but will not complete a search of the records.
